*INVITATION TO A 2 WEEKS WORKSHOP FOR MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS ON FORENSIC EXAMINATION AND SUPPORT SERVICES FOR SURVIVORS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT

Partnership for Justice (PJ) in collaboration with the Justice for All Programme of the Department for International Development (DFID) is pleased to invite you to a second batch of a 2 weeks capacity building for medical practitioners on forensic examination and support services for survivors of sexual assault scheduled to hold as follows:

Date: 3rd – 14th June 2013 (weekdays only)
Time: 9.00 am each day
Venue: Dental Seminar Room,
Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, (LASUTH) Ikeja

This training is part of a larger gender justice program that seeks to provide timely professional and victim friendly medical and psychosocial services to victims and survivors of sexual assault in Lagos State through the establishment of the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) at LASUTH.

The goal of the training therefore is to strengthen the capacity of selected doctors and nurses/midwives to provide specialised medical services to these victims. It is expected that participants who undergo this training will be part of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) made up of trained professionals who specialise in providing services to rape and sexual assault victims and can be relied upon to provide these services.

The trainer is a specialised medical doctor with extensive experience in dealing with victims of sexual assault from St Mary’s Sexual Assault Referral Centre in Manchester, UK.

We hope you can make out time from your busy schedule to be with us at this training and be part of this innovative project which is the first of its kind in Nigeria.
