Mirabel Centre & its partners

The Centre works closely with the following Partners:

Ministry of Health and Lagos State University Teaching Hospital(LASUTH).

The Mirabel Centre is located at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, Ikeja. The location in which the centre is housed was graciously authorized by the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Olajide Idris and the Memorandum of Association was signed by the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Adewale Oke.

Ministry of Justice and the Lagos State Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Response Team (DVSART)

The Lagos State Ministry of Justice has been working closely with the Mirabel Centre toensure justice is served by bringing perpetrators to book. The Ministry of Justice through the department of the Office of the Public Defender (OPD), Citizen’s Right Mediation and Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP), has contributed immensely to enhance the services provided at the Mirabel Centre.

The Mirabel Centre also is a member of the Lagos State Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Response Team (DVSART). The aim of the team is to increase victim’s safety and offender’s responsibility
.
The objective is to make more people aware that there are laws dealing with Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, courts that are ready to prosecute and punish offenders; effective collection of evidence and ready to assist in ensuring that victims are protected from the oppressive situation or environment

Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation

The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Known as WAPA work closely with the centre. Clients/Victims who require further protection are referred to WAPA from the centre. WAPA is known to elevate the living standard of the good people of LagosState with emphasis on all categories of Women through economic empowerment and sustainable programmes that would lead to self-employment and economic self-reliance.

Lagos State Gender Advocacy Team (LASGAT)

Mirabel Centre is a member of the Lagos State Gender Advocacy Team (LASGAT). The team works to ensure women and men have equal access to opportunities and resources for sustainable development. On October 13th– 17th2014, LASGAT organized a week of action against Domestic violence in Lagos State to raise awareness about the law, service providers like the Mirabel Centre and information on how to prevent and protect them against domestic violence. The theme for the week of action was Domestic Violence is
a crime

Non- Governmental Organization (NGOs).

The Mirabel Centre partners with a lot of NGOs who make referrals to the centre and from the centre to the various organizations. However, the centre has worked closely with the following organizations: Women’s Rights and Health Project (WRAHP) Working Group of 8 on Violence Against Women (WG8), Legal Defense and Assistance Project (LEDAP), Alliances for Africa (AFA), Project Alert on Violence Against Women, West Africa Network for Peace building (WANEP-Nigeria), Women’s Consortium of Nigeria(WOCON), Gender and Development Action (GADA).
