Partnership for Justice (PJ) and The Eight Foundation will hold a one-day school campaign to create awareness amongst students on the increased incident of sexual violence, and to build the capacity of students on how to prevent and seek necessary help when such occurs.
In a statement by Juliet Olumuyiwa-Rufai, Centre Manager, Mirabel Centre/Partnership for Justice, on behalf of the organisers said, the school sensitization campaign is part of a larger gender justice programme that seeks to provide timely professional clinical and psychosocial intervention to survivors of sexual violence in Lagos State.
” The goal of this advocacy is to strengthen the capacity of students in schools to prevent sexual violence, to sensitize them on whom likely perpetuators are, to empower them with information on how to access support services, as well as to guide them in ways to seek redress after an incident of sexual violence.”
About 200 students drawn from selected schools in Lagos State are expected to participate at the event, to be held at Dolphin Senior High School, Ikoyi on Wednesday March 2, 2016 at 9:00am
The statement also added that admission into the programme is free.
